| | | HARE KRSNA! | | | Dear Friends, Hope this meets you all well. Whenever we plan to change locations, even for a few hours, we generally need to make preparations according to the exact nature of the new environment. If we are going to a formal event, then we make sure we are dressed in suitable attire. Similarly, when artists intend to perform for an audiene, they usually practice rigorously beforehand. We, too, all have some places to go. All the major scriptures emphasize that we have a home situated far beyond the mundane reality in which we find ourselves temporarily. The scriptures underline the fact that we are eternal, but as we look at our lives, we cannot help but realize that everything is relative. This impermanence indicates that we are out of place. Therefore, we want to prepare ourselves to regain what we have lost, to receive the marvelous treasures that await us. Moving expediently towards the goal entails an adjustment in mental orientation which aligns with a Higher Power. With great happiness in our hearts, we welcome you ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) for our classes and events this week! | | WEDNESDAY, April 16 - Bhagavad Gita Class | | | | THE ORIGINAL FORM OF THE HOLY NAME In the Vedic literature of India, there are many references indicating that in this particular age of Kali, the most effective religious practice is the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. Lord Krishna has personally invested his power in the "Hare Krishna" mahamantra. Join us this Wednesday night as our speaker unveils the importance and the essence of the holy names of the Lord. Speaker: H.G. Ananda Caitanya Das Time: 6.00 – 8.00pm Discourse will be followed by Sandhya Arati and Prasadam HG Ananda Caitanya das joined ISKCON in 1979. He also served as the regional secretary for Volga and west Siberia regions, in Russia. Speaker: H.G Vaisesika Das 7.30 – 10.00am: Brahma Samhita Recitation & Discourse on "Transmigration & Liberation of the Soul" 10.00 am: Guru Puja and Prasadam | | APRIL 19 - The Complete Yoga Package | | | MODULE II: SELF MANAGER SESSION 4: BREAKING FREE OF BONDS 6.00 pm - 8.00 pm You are invited to a holistic approach to rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. This complete yoga package includes enlivening Yoga asanas, refreshing breathing exercises (pranayama), introspective meditation, and Vedic wisdom. Yoga asanas like Sun Salutation increases vitality, overall health and improve the immune system. Pranayama eliminates stress, helps develop a sense of inner peace and calm. Meditation helps in overcoming negative emotions, facilitates a calm and peaceful mind. Discussion on Vedic philosophy facilitates personal discovery, growth and advancement in our spiritual journey. As pure spirit souls, we are all related to the Supreme Lord as a servant, friend, parent or a lover. Our original position is to serve, however, we have come here to this material world, with the desire to become an independent enjoyer, proprietor and controller — to become an imitator and competitor of God. The living entities can either choose to serve the Lord with love and devotion and remain under the control of Yoga maya or they can become rebellious and be away from the Lord under the control of Maha maya. As soon as the rebellious living entity comes in contact with the external energy (material world), he is caught up (like police catching thief) under the clutches of three modes of material nature– Mode of goodness, Passion, and Ignorance.
