WEDNESDAY, MAY 27 - Bhagavad Gita Discourse

Srila Prabhupada often gives the example of the nature of sugar being sweet to illustrate what is dharma. Therefore, an important aspect of svadharma is that it is an individual's natural state in relationship with another entity, just as the nature of sugar is to be sweet in relationship with the tongue and its nature is to dissolve in relationship to water.  Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Srimad Bhagavatam and Mahabharata, talk about the importance of one being situated in one's svadharma rather than trying to practice paradharma. In this context, there are references to "putra dharma" (dharma of son), "pitra dharma" (dharma of father), "praja dharma" (dharma of citizen) and so on, the premise being that the entire existence is Krishna's family (Vasudaiva Kutumbakam) and that everyone should attain satisfaction (sarve bhavantu sukhinah). And time and again, these scriptures remind us that the culmination of all dharma's is one's eternal relationship with the Supreme Lord (Gita 18.66) or Krishna Dharma and yoga is precisely about realizing that relationship. The beautiful process of Sadhana (Bhakti), as taught by our acharyas helps us remain focused on the path of yoga, on Krishna Dharma. Thus, determined practice of sadhana and an understanding and sincere appreciation of svadharma are extremely important in the journey of life.

Time: 6.00 – 8.00pm

6:00pm: "Svadharma and Sadhana" by H.G Gaurhari Das

8.00pm: Arati followed by Prasadam
