Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Every Friday from Sept 18th, 2015 to Nov 20th, 2015. Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm Venue: ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) - 1965 Latham St, Mountain View, CA 94040 Abstract: Our bodies are sophisticated machines that contain senses, mind, intelligence, ego, consciousness and super-consciousness. When we are not aware of the role of each of these elements and their interplay, there’s a mismatch between our expectations and the actual outcome. This lack of awareness can lead to frustration, anxiety, stress, anger, lack of satisfaction, etc. The Bhagavad Gita systematically describes the inner workings of each of those elements and methods for elevating our awareness so that we navigate the machine (our body) through the traffic (situations & circumstances) of this world. In the words of the Gita our original state is described as “… one being situated in boundless transcendental happiness & established thus, one thinks there is no greater gain. Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty“ The topics for the course would include: Search for Happiness Consciousness – The Missing Link Decision Making Framework Why do bad things happen to good people The Inverted Banyan Tree Modes & Moods Demystifying Yoga Practical Application of the Bhagavad Gita REGISTRATION: You can register for the course using this link: https://goo.gl/jSrdis | | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 - Glories of Srimati Lalitha Sakhi | | | | This Saturday is the divine appearance day of Srimati Lalitha Sakhi, one of the eight principal sakhis of Srimati Radharani in Vrindavana. he is a very dear friend of Radha-Krsna. Lalita-sakhi and her assistants incarnate from time to time in the material realm to propogate the topmost mood of serving Radha-Krsna, namely to become a maid-servant of Srimati Radharani. Rupa manjari (Rupa Goswami) is the assistant and follower of Lalita-sakhi; thus all who consider themselves as Rupanuga bhaktas (followers of Rupa Goswami) are ultimately the servants of lalita-devi and thus through the media of the parampara should always be longing to engage in the service of her lotus feet. When that day comes that we are able to please her, she will engage us in the intimate loving service of Sri Sri radha-Krsna according to our heart's desire. Please join us to hear and celebrate the glories of Srimati Lalitha Sakhi this Saturday morning at ISV! 7.30am: Brahma Samita followed by "Glories of Srimati Lalitha Sakhi" by H.G Gandharvika Radha Devi Dasi | | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 - THE COMPLETE YOGA PACKAGE | | | You are invited to the complete yoga package which includes Yoga asanas, breathing exercises (pranayama), Vedic wisdom, and introspective meditation. We strive diligently to overcome many fears, however the necessary security measures like insurances, helmets, health checkups fail to remove from us a disconcerting sense of fear and insecurity. The Vedic texts explain that all fear originates in an unbalanced material conception of life. Beyond the stage of material activity that preoccupies our mind lies a vast, unexplored realm of spiritual tranquility. When: Saturday, September 19, 2015, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Where: 1965 Latham Street, Mountain View, CA 94040 VEDIC ACADEMY KRISHNA CLASSES : Parallel Session for Kids which includes Vedic stories, Yoga, Vedic Math, Music Lessons and much more. Among them are Karma-yoga (the practice of conscious action), Jnana-yoga (the study of philosophy and contemplation) and Hatha-yoga (the practice of yoga-asanas and breathing exercises). The Gita ultimately prescribes bhakti yoga (the path of dedication and love); it is the culmination of these other yoga practices. Bhakti Yoga focuses on developing our dedication, our service and our love for the supreme being, Krishna. Join us this Sunday for a thought provoking discussion on the essence of Bhakti Yoga. You are cordially invited to the Sunday Feast this week to experience a divine environment filled with Krsna Katha, kirtans, Arotik and delicious prasadam here at ISV! 4:00pm - 5:45pm: "Highly Effecitve Yoga for Modern Age" - Talk by H.G Srivas Pandit Das 6.00pm: Sandhya Aartik followed by Announcements and Prasadam If you would like to sponsor a Sunday Feast, to commemorate a special occasion (like birthday or wedding anniversary) or just in general, please write to us at isvconnect@gmail.com.
