Dear Friends and Patrons

Our classes and events will continue (see the detailed schedule below); however, we recommend the following:

Participate in ISV classes and events online as much as possible, rather than coming in to the temple and don't come to the temple, if:

  • You have any symptoms of illness – fever, cough, shortness of breath.
  • You have been around anyone else with symptoms of illness.
  • You have a compromised immune system and are therefore at a higher level of risk by contacting a virus.
  • You are worried about catching the coronavirus. You have travelled to or been in close contact with those who have traveled to at-risk countries listed by the CDC.
    https://www.cdc.gov/
  •  (In these cases, you should remain away from the temple and temple activities for at least 14 days after your return and you are symptom free.)
Other precautions:
  • Anyone involved in cooking or serving prasadam must follow hand washing guidelines, including using hand sanitizer and gloves at all times.
  •  Anyone showing any symptoms of any illness should remain out of the kitchen and not serve prasadam.
  • Avoid shaking hands with others.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Don't pass around prasadam flowers, oil or water.
Some things we are doing at ISV regarding the coronavirus
  • Issued an ongoing advisory that congregation members participate in temple programs from home, online.
  • Installed hand sanitizer dispensers in several key places in the temple.
  • Implemented the Dept. of Public Health policy to disinfect kitchen equipment.
  • Implemented regular sanitizing of door knobs, microphones, and surfaces in the temple.
  • Required cooks to wash their hands before and during the cooking process, stopping every so often, about every 20 minutes, to rewash their hands with hot water and soap for 20 seconds.
  • Required prasadam servers, as well as cooks, to wear gloves and bonnets.
  • Required Sunday School teachers to train children in their classes to regularly and thoroughly wash their hands and properly use hand sanitizer before attending classes or honoring prasadam.
  • Suspended the sharing and distribution of flower prasadam, water offered to the Deity during aarti, and scented oil.
  • Finally, we will be providing to-go prasadam for all programs.

 With gratitude,
Vaisesika Dasa
SB 10.17;23-25 [Vṛndāvana's residents said:] Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa, O Lord of all opulence! O Rāma, possessor of unlimited power! This most terrible fire is about to devour us, Your devotees! O Lord, we are Your true friends and devotees. Please protect us from this insurmountable fire of death. We can never give up Your lotus feet, which drive away all fear. Seeing His devotees so disturbed, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the infinite Lord of the universe and possessor of infinite power, then swallowed the terrible forest fire.

BHAGAVAD GITA AS IT IS - Chapter A Day (CHAD)

"As Arjuna set aside his bow and arrows, let us set aside any sense of confidence in our own abilities so that we may hear Krsna's words with full heart and attention. This kind of submissive hearing is the primary requirement for advancement in spiritual life. The devotee who hears Krsna's words with a submissive heart immediately feels an ingress of causeless knowledge and detachment." - H. G. Vaisesika Prabhu
