The Story of Sudama Brahmana, Complete Yoga Package, Sunday Feast & Kids Mantra Meditation Workshop this week at ISV!

Dear Friends,
Hope this meets you all well. The Srimad Bhagavatam describes how the trees in Vrindavana are bowing down due to their heavy fruits. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu explains this by describing how a person who has the fruits of good qualities is like a tree with good fruits. The weights of the fruits cause the tree to bow down to everyone. But a tree that doesn't have good fruits stands up straight and doesn't bow down to anyone. Similarly a person who has good character is eager to offer respect to the divinity, the spiritual essence within everyone, everywhere. So Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu describes how like a tree, with the good ripe fruits of spiritual qualities we should offer all respects and bow down to Lord Krishna in every situation for it is His grace that is empowering us to do anything in this world.
The Srimad Bhagavatam also explains that all the exalted qualities of the demigods automatically becomes manifest in the person who engages in unalloyed devotion to Lord Krsna. The ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) offers the platform for the people of Bay Area and around the world to become purified from the material contamination by regularly hearing from the scriptures, engaging in worship of the Lord, chanting the Lord's Holy Names and many more such activities so that can at once understand his/her relationship with Krsna and thus revive their original quality of Krsna consciousness.

SMILING MINDS - A MINDFULNESS MANTRA MEDITATION
WORKSHOP FOR KIDS
Vedic Academy is excited to invite the children of Bay Area for a wonderful workshop on mindfulness mantra meditation to be held at the Iskcon of Silicon Valley (ISV) on Monday, January 20 2014. The schools will be closed that day for Martin Luther King Jr.'s day.
As more adults turn to mindfulness practices like yoga and meditation to combat mounting stress in their own lives, unfortunately even the little ones aren't immune to the damaging effects of stress. But they may benefit from stress-relieving practices meant to calm the mind and release physical tension. Teaching kids mindfulness can go a long way in helping them booth awareness and control their moods. Mindfulness - the focused awareness on the present moment, generally cultivated through a meditation practice - can help to curb kids' impulsivity, and research has also shown mindfulness mantra meditation to be very effective in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Please note that the workshop is not just limited for kids and adults/parents can attend too. We request you to kindly register before Wednesday, January 15 so that it will help us in planning and executing the workshop better. Hope this meets you all well.
The principle of Ayurveda is that we cannot digest food if we have no hunger. Digestion is the key to good health. Similarly the grace of God is key to an auspicious life. Grace is all-pervading, just like the sunlight is all-pervading, but we have become so habituated to live in dark places that we do not sufficiently access the divine grace. In order to digest and assimilate that grace we have to be hungry for it. Because there are powers beyond our intelligence, beyond our physical strength, beyond our will power, it is important that we seek for the grace of the Divine. This grace cannot be attained simply by our efforts. But when we are sincere, serious, humble and are eager to serve the Supreme Lord and all living beings through Him, with no ulterior motives, then Lord Krishna, the source of all grace, is eager to deliver us.
One of the ways, we can easily attain the grace of the Lord is by associating with people who are sincerely pursuing the path of devotion. Such sincere practitioners congregate at the temple of the Supreme Lord and just by hearing the transcendental messages of the scriptures in the association of such devotees, one gets the grace of the Lord. With great happiness in our hearts, we welcome you to the ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) this week for our events.
