HH Bhakti Raghava Swami , a pioneer in establishing Varnashram Dharma , visited
Iskcon San jose on the weekend of 1st of May & gave Srimad bhgavatam class & a presentation on Varnashram Dharma & its importance
There was a grand initiation ceremony held at the temple in the morning & our dear Stalwart book distributor bhakta Sreekant accepted Harinaam initiation from HH Bhakti Raghava Swami & received the name Sri Krsna Purushottam das
In the initiation lecture which was also the Srimad Bhagavatam class he explained the need of Varnashram dharma in the present society.
“All living bodies subsist on food grains, which are produced from rains. Rains are produced by performance of yajïa [sacrifice], and yajïa is born of prescribed duties.” [Bhagavad-gita 3.14]
The basis of “Simple Living and High Thinking”, the norm for civilized human beings, lies in the acceptance of village life centered on the performance of sacrifice, yajna, which is born of prescribed duties as delineated in the scientific system of varnas and asramas.
