Dear Friends,
The Children's Rath Yatra is one of the most looked forward events at ISV. It is a very colorful event where both children and adults participate in the traditional Rath yatra (chariot) festival which takes place every year during the months of June and July in the eastern part of India, particularly in Puri, in the state of Orissa. A richly decorated chariot is drawn by the kids through the streets of Palo Alto, in which the Deities of Sri Jagannath, Baladev & Subadhra are seated and taken on a procession.
Please join us for the special Harinam Sankirtan and Children's Ratha Yatra on Friday, July 26 at Palo Alto. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced the public chanting of the holy names of God for the benefit of every living entity. This is an all-perfect, all-blissful activity that is specifically prescribed for this age as the cure for all anxieties and anomalies caused by the material conception of life. We extend a warm welcome to you, your friends and family to join us on this auspicious occasion.
HARINAM SANKIRTANA & CHILDREN'S RATH YATRA
When: Friday, July 26th @ 6.59pm (Please come as early as possible)
Where: Palo Alto, University Avenue
(The cross street will be either Emerson or Bryant, depending on the best facility available. So if you don't see devotees at University and Emerson, go east toward Bryant and look there!)
In one of the purports in Bhagavad Gita, Srila Prabhupada says, "As stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the incarnation in the Age of Kali is Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who spread the worship of Krsna by the Sankirtana movement (congregational chanting of the holy names) and spread Krsna consciousness throughout India. He predicted that this culture of Sankirtana would be broadcast all over the world, from town to town and village to village. Lord Caitanya as the incarnation of Krsna, the Personality of Godhead, is described secretly but not directly in the confidential parts of the revealed scriptures, such as the Upanisads, Mahabharata, Bhagavatam, etc. The devotees of Lord Krsna are much attracted by the Sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya. This avatara of the Lord does not kill the miscreants, but delivers them by His causeless mercy." (BG 4.8 Purport)
We look forward to having your association!
Thank you
Yours in service
