Urgent Appeal, Please act now! Bhagavad-gita on Trial in Russia!

Hare Krishna. An urgent appeal from the devotees in Russia. Please
sign the petition today or ASAP at:

http://www.petitions24.com/gita

The court hearing in Russia is Monday, Dec 19th, that is Sunday night
in USA and we need to flood our responses before that.
Thank you for your support.

Today is also the World Enlightenment Day which was started by our
Leader His Grace Vaisesika Prabhu
Please help us with your part.

Yhs
Team ISV

--------------------------

Dear devotees of Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

On Monday, December 19th, in Tomsk, Russia, a historic court case is taking
place. Some of our movement's detractors are making a major court case,
attempting to establish that Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad Gita As It Is is is
"extremist literature" and on these grounds have it banned throughout the
country. The implications for ISKCON in Russia and even in the former USSR
are far reaching.

If the devotees lose this case all Srila Prabhupada's books may be banned
because they are full of quotations from the Gita. Seeing all of our
activities are based on Bhagavad Gita it could conceivably lead to attempts
to close our movement in some places.

The prosecutors are pushing this absurd case with great determination and
vigor. There have already been three court hearings, in which the testimony
of the so called "experts" gathered by the prosecutors was recognized as
being inadequate. However, the prosecutor's office has requested new
testimony, not from well-known experts on Hinduism from Moscow, but from
some unknown academics from a local Siberian university. This move clearly
suggests that a particular court decision is being engineered. Their
approach brings to mind the Inquisitions of the Middle Ages, witch hunts,
and the burning of books and persecution of dissidents during the Soviet
period of Russian history.

Please announce at your Sunday feasts that the programme is being offered to
the Lord as an appeal that if He so desires He may help the devotees win
this case.

The GBC Executive Committee also hereby requests all ISKCON devotees to sign
an online petition which will be presented to the court on Monday, showing
international support for Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad Gita. Please sign at:

http://www.petitions24.com/gita

It is in both English and Russian. Please pass the link on to your friends,
and encourage whoever you can to sign.

We also request all the followers of Srila Prabhupada to pray to Lord
Krishna and Lord Nrsimhadeva to protect his movement in Russia, and to help
the devotees' efforts in court there to be successful.

Hoping this meets you well.

Hare Krsna,

The GBC Executive Committee,

Harinam Today!

Dear Devotees,

Please accept our humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Please join us for the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord tonight in Palo Alto, University and Emerson, starting at 6:59pm.

"Sastra recommends this as the best (and only way) to make real spiritual advancement in this current age of Kali Yuga.Just as the gopis dropped what they were doing, all sorts of household affairs, and ran to meet Krsna after hearing the Clarion call of His flute, those who put aside all other concerns to join the Hari Nama Kirtana party will be specially blessed by Lord Caitanya. He has called everyone to take to the streets to publicly chant the Lord's names.
Bundle up, bring the family, come for a short time or stay for the who yajna; but please come. We desire your association." -  HG Vaisesika Prabhu

There will also be a tree lighting event from 4:30 until about 6:30pm performed by City of Palo Alto. You can attend this with the kids if you can go early.

Please accept our most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupad!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all those who partook in the Kartik month CHAD program.

Our 2011 - Karthik month CHAD group goal was to:-

1. Recite 8th chapter (or any other you may have selected) from Oct 11 2011  to Nov 10 2011
2. Introduce CHAD to one other soul

We are eager know if you (& your family & friends) were able to recite Gita everyday.

Reporting your CHAD performance is very easy;  you should just email us  the category (listed below) in which you fall in and the name of the another person whom you inspired to do CHAD during Kartik.

Irrespective of how little or how big your performance rate is, Srila Prabhupad and Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan/Mahaprabhu & Lakshmi Narasimha, will be very pleased to know what you did. One may think.."Well.. Krishna is in my heart he knows what I did, why should I explicitly share it with others?". That is just the trick of the mind. One of the best ways to feel encouraged is to encourage others. Sharing our performance report is the best way to encourage others and feel encouraged. Thanks to all the devotees who proactively shared thier realisations!

Lord Krishna is very pleased when we explicitly offer our results to HIM considering HIM as our dearest well-wisher.

We kindly request you to take a minute of your valuable time and let us know your performance rating. You can email to  Chapter_a_day@yahoogroups.com or chad.isv@gmail.com. If you are not a regular visiting member of ISV, San Jose, California, please make sure you email us your correspondence address.
