You're invited for an eventful and exciting week at ISV!

                            http://iskconsiliconvalley.com/

Dear Friends,

Hope this meets you all well.

Thank you visiting the ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) last week as we participated in the World Holy Name week and experienced the bliss of holy names through our discourses, kirtans and harinaam. We would like to extend a warm invitation to you to join us for yet another eventful week at ISV packed with nectar.

Tomorrow, September 25th, marks the anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's arrival in America back in 1965. He came to America at the age of seventy with no money but with a suitcase full of spiritual literatures, the wealth of which is immeasurable. He single handedly preached the message of Bhagavad Gita in the streets of New York and slowly after many struggles started the International Society for Krsna Consciousness in 1966. He fulfilled the prophecy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu that one day in every town and village, the holy names of Lord Krsna will be sung. We are eternally indebted to Srila Prabhupada for the immense wealth of Krsna consciousness he has given us,

This week at ISV, join us as we honor our dear Srila Prabhupada and his dear disciple and offer our gratitude to them.

First of all, I would like to appreciate you for doing such a nice job on the spiritual front. I happened to click on ISV broadcast on www.mayapur.tv last week and was very much impressed to watch couple of programs viz. Japa Flow and the Sunday Love Feast – All the Vitamins are there in the Holy Name. I got so much involved in watching that I felt as if I was present at the ISV!! Why I say this is because I am currently based in Saudi Arabia (KSA) and have been waking up at the mid-nights on weekends to watch Mangala Aroti broadcast from Vrindavan and on Sunday (22-Sep) after watching (I will say attending) Mangala Aroti on Vrindavan website, I browsed through your website to check what was going on and watched Sunday evening program. That was around 3am in Saudi and I couldn't turn off my computer and kept watching your program! I am also looking forward to watching the recording of this Sunday program (22-Sep) including the Skid as soon as it is uploaded on the website. The way you conduct Temple programs, seminars, etc. is really commendable; people including me take all these pains for material desires and not for the Soul, whereas you do this for the spiritual progress and the entire ISV team (including the devotees there) deserve a big hand. Prabhuji, may I request the email address of HG Vaisesika Prabhu so I can be in touch, occasionally, for my spiritual progress and for (m)any questions I have in spiritual life.

Special Harinaam Sankirtan @ Palo Alto this Friday, September 20 @ 6.59pm on the occasion of the "World Holy Name Week 2013"!

http://iskconsiliconvalley.com/

Dear Friend,

The week of September 17-26 is marked as the World Holy Name Week 2013. This year marks 47 years since Srila Prabhupada founded ISKCON and literally inaugurated the worldwide Sankirtana movements by chanting in Tompkins Square Park, New York. From those humble beginnings, the movement spread and has been instrumental in impacting the lives of thousands of people all over the world to cultivate pure love and devotion to the Supreme Lord.

In honor of Srila Prabhupada's great works and to express gratitude to him and the exalted acharyas who have fearlessly spread the Sankirtana movement initiated by Sri Caitanya Maharaprabhu, we at the ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) have organized a special Harinam Sankirtan (public chanting of the holy names) at one of the most affluent cities of the world, Palo Alto.

Please join us for this special event on Friday, September 20th at Palo Alto. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu introduced the public chanting of the holy names of God for the benefit of every living entity. This is an all-perfect, all-blissful activity that is specifically prescribed for this age as the cure for all anxieties and anomalies caused by the material conception of life.

Bring your children dressed up as little Krishna, Rama, etc. Let us all be the instruments of Lord Caitanya by participating in this rare opportunity of publicly chanting the Holy Names to not only benefit ourselves but also benefit hundreds of people in Palo Alto. The Vedic scriptures say that even if a person hears and chants the holy name once, will be devoid of all sinful reactions and can make his life auspicious. We extend a warm welcome to you, your friends and family to join us on this auspicious occasion.

       HARINAM SANKIRTANA

When: Friday, September 20th @ 6.59pm (Please come as early as possible)

Where: Palo Alto, University Avenue

(The cross street will be either Emerson or Bryant, depending on the best facility available. So if you don't see devotees at University and Emerson, go east toward Bryant and look there!)

In one of the purports in Bhagavad Gita, Srila Prabhupada says, "As stated in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, the incarnation in the Age of Kali is Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who spread the worship of Krsna by the Sankirtana movement (congregational chanting of the holy names) and spread Krsna consciousness throughout India. He predicted that this culture of Sankirtana would be broadcast all over the world, from town to town and village to village. Lord Caitanya as the incarnation of Krsna, the Personality of Godhead, is described secretly but not directly in the confidential parts of the revealed scriptures, such as the Upanisads, Mahabharata, Bhagavatam, etc. The devotees of Lord Krsna are much attracted by the Sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya. This avatara of the Lord does not kill the miscreants, but delivers them by His causeless mercy." (BG 4.8 Purport)

We look forward to having your association!

Thank you

Yours in service

Team ISV

Experience the bliss and Connect to your inner self with the special programs at ISV this week!

                            http://iskconsiliconvalley.com/

Dear Friends,

Hope this meets you all well.

Everyone knows that a happy life requires good health. Proper diet, adequate exercise, and sufficient rest are necessary to keep our bodies strong and fit. If we neglect these demands, our bodies become weakened and resistance wanes. More important, but less well known, is the inner self's need for spiritual nourishment and attention. If we ignore our spiritual health requirements, we become overwhelmed by negative material tendencies like anxiety, hatred, loneliness, prejudice, greed, boredom, envy, and anger. In order to counteract and prevent these subtle infections of the self, we should, as recommended in the Vedic scriptures, incorporate into our lives a program of self-examination and steady inner growth. The Bhagavad Gita offers a solution for this: MIND CONTROL. Though it may sound simple, it is the hardest task at hand.

The sastras claim that there is no better way for mind control than chanting the holy names of God. Of all such authentic processes, India's timeless Vedas tell us that meditation on the Hare Krishna mantra is the most powerful. Please join us at the ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) this week as we come together to hear and learn about the importance and benefits of  the mantra meditation and experience happiness and peace by chanting in the association of other devotees.

This week (September 17 - 26) is marked as the World Holy Name Week 2013. This year 2013 marks 47 years since Srila Prabhupada founded ISKCON and literally inaugurated the worldwide Sankirtana movement by chanting in Tompkins Square Park, New York. From those humble beginnings, the movement spread and has been in instrumental in impacting the lives of thousands of people all over the world to cultivate pure love and devotion to the Supreme Lord.

THE  COMPLETE YOGA PACKAGE

Module II : "Self Manager"

Session 5 : Breaking Free of Bonds

You are invited to the complete yoga package which includes Yoga asanas, breathing exercises (pranayama), Vedic wisdom, and introspective meditation.

As pure spirit souls, we are all related to the Supreme Lord as a servant, friend, parent or a lover. Our original position is to serve, however, we have come here to this material world, with the desire to become an independent enjoyer, proprietor and controller — to become an imitator and competitor of God. The living entities can either choose to serve the Lord with love and devotion and remain under the control of yogamaya or they can become rebellious and be away from the Lord under the control of mahamaya. As soon as the rebellious living entity comes in contact with the external energy (material world), he is caught up (like police catching thief) under the clutches of three modes of material nature– Mode of Goodness, Passion, and Ignorance.

VEDIC ACADEMY : Parallel Session for Kids which includes Vedic stories, Yoga, Vedic Math, Music Lessons and much more.

You are invited to the complete yoga package which includes Yoga asanas, breathing exercises (pranayama), Vedic wisdom, and introspective meditation.

Vedas inform us that there are 8,40,000 species of life, and one gains a human form of life after uncountable lives in different species. This human form of life is special because one can understand higher truth with the help of discerning intelligence, transcend birth, disease, old age, and death, and re-awaken our essential spiritual nature. Vedic aphorism states that every living entity is blissful by nature and have an eternal connection with the Supreme Blissful, God. Forgetting this reality, when we try to seek happiness in matter, we fall into trouble and anxieties. Material objects can satisfy the senses of the body, however fundamental need of every living being is to love ant to be loved. Real happiness is a fundamental characteristic of all living, sentient beings and is far above the illusory happiness found in material sensory pleasures.

Speaker: H.G. Vaisesika Das

4.00 – 5.45pm: Discourse on "Living a Balanced Life"

First held in 1966 at the request of Srila Prabhupada (the founder of the Hare Krishna movement), the Sunday Love Feast has evolved as an integrated celebration of Lord Krishna's pastimes: chanting, hearing spiritual knowledge, dancing, eating and generally sharing the bliss of Lord Krsna's presence. Since then, this weekly Sunday Love Feast festival is celebrated in all Hare Krishna temples around the world. We extend a warm and hearty welcome to you, your friends and family. Please join us at ISV for this wonderful event every Sunday.

Furthermore, to offer sumptuous prasadam to the devotees is an auspicious activity. If you would like to sponsor a Sunday Feast, to commemorate a special occasion (like birthday or wedding anniversary) or just in general, please write to us at isvconnect@gmail.com. We will offer the bhoga to the Deities and serve prasadam to all the devotees in your name. Donation amount for the Sunday Feast is $301 only.

Grand Radhastami Festival at ISKCON of Silicon Valley on Thursday, September 12 from 5.30pm onwards

                            http://iskconsiliconvalley.com/

Dear Friends,

Hope this meets you all well.

After the grand Janmashtami festival, we are now looking forward and eagerly making arrangements to celebrate the auspicious appearance day festival of our divine mother, Srimati Radharani also known as Radhastami. Radharani is the consort of Krishna. She appeared to Vrishabhanu Maharaj (her father) in the village of Rawal a fortnight after Krishna's appearance.

Radharani's special qualification is that She is the best devotee of Krishna. Krishna therefore loves Her the most. On Her festival day, devotees seeking Krishna's grace will especially ask Her to grant them devotion to Her beloved Lord, knowing that if they can attain Her favor, they can attain His as a natural consequence. Radhastami is the only day in the entire year when the devotees get an opportunity to take darshan of the beautiful lotus feet of Srimati Radharani.

We extend a warm welcome to you and your family to join us for the Radhastami festival on Thursday, September 12 2013 from 5.30pm onwards.
