This year, Gita Jayanti, the anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna's speaking the Bhagavad-Gita to Sri Arjuna, falls on Sunday, December 23rd.

For those whose lives have been forever improved by meeting Lord Krishna personally in the pages of the Gita, Gita Jayanti is not only a day of celebration but also a chance to express their gratitude. And the best way to do so is to share the Gita with others. Krishna Himself says, "There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear." (Bg. 18.69)

The Gita teaches the essence of spiritual knowledge, purely and succinctly, in a way that anyone – in any situation of life – can practically apply its instruction and wisdom. And since Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, resides within the heart of every living being, He is always there to help the reader understand the Gita's profound message.

Many people in the world are innocent; and when they hear the message of the Gita from a devotee, they at once embrace it and attain perfection.

Krishna says, "Again there are those who, although not conversant in spiritual knowledge, begin to worship the Supreme Person upon hearing about Him from others. Because of their tendency to hear from authorities, they also transcend the path of birth and death." (Bg. 13.26)

More than ever before, people need the common sense and elegance of the Gita. Why? The modern media daily brings us foul rumors, incendiary disputes, and scenes of massacre. And a popular scientist has proclaimed, "The human race is just chemical scum on a moderate sized planet . . ." (Stephen Hawking, interview 1994).

It seems that the public demands these things—at least some studies suggest that they do. And news anchors across the world have come to count on the fact that people have developed an insatiable appetite for calumny and the gory details of tragic events.

As people disclose the acrimony and conflict that trouble their hearts in tens of millions of daily blogs, YouTube clips, Facebook postings, and interviews in the 24-hour news cycle, the resultant din is a toxic outpouring of malignant sound that flows into the ears of the innocent masses, leading the world's population into anxiety, despair, and mental illness.

The delicate human ear requires Krishna's soothing voice in the Gita to clarify the heart and fortify the intellect.

Even five thousand years after Lord Krishna's departure from this world, "the Bhagavad-gita can be consulted in all critical times, not only for solace from all kinds of mental agonies, but also for the way out of great entanglements which may embarrass one in some critical hour." (SB 1.15.27, purport)

Lord Caitanya exalts the Gita to Srila Sanatana Gosvami: "Krishna is so merciful that simply by aiming His instructions at Arjuna, He has given protection to the whole world." (Cc Madhya 22.56)

The Gita issues from the beautiful lotus mouth of Lord Sri Krishna, our best friend and eternal benefactor. And as that message passes through the pen of Krishna's empowered representative, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Bhagavad-gita "As It Is" becomes all the more relishable.

As Gita Jayanti approaches, please read the Gita, remember the Gita, give the Gita.

Humbly in service,

Vaisesika Dasa

Use of ISV Group Email.

Dear Devotees

Please accept my respectful obesisances.

All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In past few months, ISV management and Communication Department has observed that some devotees have used ISV group email ids for sending emails not related with ISV.

Kindly use your personal mailing lists for non-ISV temple information sharing.

I have been asked to send on the 3 main groups we have and the purpose:

Books: iskconsv_books@yahoogroups.com : share book scores and GNAB and communication related with book distribution. Devotees have to request to be added in this group.

General: IskconSV_General@yahoogroups.com:  this email is used for relevant temple services, devotees' needing/ wanting help, lost and found. Again though this is broad, the message has to be related with Temple.

Devotees have to request to be added in this group.

Announcements: announcements@iskconsv.org : Primary Broadcast communication vehicle for weekly announcements, any follow up related with schedule and information exchange with congregation. Typically these communications are informational and act as invitation for participation in events.  All new email addresses we receive at Temple and during Sankirtana get added in this group.

General and books emails are treated outside of ISV Communication department

In case you have still Qs, please send mail to me / Vaisesika Prabhu/ Akruranath prabhu for clarification.

Your humble servant

Damodara Vamsidhari Das (Deepak Chandani)

It is so satisfying to see that ISKCON has spared no efforts to celebrate the life of Prabhuji Raxit Shekharji.  My next radio show tomorrow at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm (Saturday, Nov 24th) on Radio Zindagi 1550AM is being dedicated to him also.

Last year myself and
Rasika-Sekhar Prabhu car pooled together to the city for harinaam. I am still remembering those moments.  He loves to preach to who ever he meets with and distributed Srila Prabhupada books. Recently Prabhuji went to Europe on business trip and distributed books to the top universities and his co-workers.

He never say no to anybody for any service always proactive and done excellent service to Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu sankirtan movement.  I went to Prabhuji room yesterday next to his bed he kept ISV

We all have served together in the mission of Lord Chaitanya for several years and it is hard to carry on in his absence. Over the years we have several memories and we are consoling each other with those memories. When devotees are sharing those experiences, our love for Rasika-Shekhar Prabhu is increasing more and more. Alas! We could have spent more time with him.

On the last Harinaam at Palo Alto only with only a few devotees present, Rasika-Shekhar Prabhu was leading an ecstatic kirtan and after the kirtan, he invited the entire city of Palo Alto for a free pancake breakfast at 951 S Bascom Ave and he was smiling in his usual way. Whenever I think of him, I can remember his innocent and playful smile. He was there at every program and Harinaam unless he has some other prior commitment.

I was remembering how he was organized, simple, positive and meticulous in his service. He has dedicated his life and his house for Sankirtan. When the last month's BBT newsletter came out, ISV was #2 among all the temples in north America (big, small and medium) and #1 among medium and small temples. He was so happy to announce that in the temple.

My Dear Damodara Vamsidari prabhu;
Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Please let everyone know that today is Gopastami!
On this day Radhika is able to join Krishna for His gostha lila (cowherding pastimes), disguised as a cowherd boy. How does She manage that?

On this day Krishna feels great separation from Sri Radhika in the morning. His friend Subala (who looks just like Radhika) decides to help Him out by saying, "Just sit and wait here, Kanai! I will bring Your beloved here in no time!" He hurries over to Yavata, the village where Sri Radhika lives (with Her husband), and knocks on the door of Her mother-in-law Jatila's house. Jatila opens the door and asks him: "Subala, what do you want here?"

Subala says: "I'm looking for one of my calves! My friends saw it wandering around here somewhere! Can I look for it in your yard?"
Jatila says: "Well, I suppose so!"

Subala slips inside the house and goes straight to Sri Radhika's quarters. Radhika is a little surprised when She sees Krishna's dear friend Subala inside Her room and She ask him: "Subala! How is Kana (Krishna)? Can You help Me to meet Him somehow?"
Subala says: "Sure! Just put on my cowherd's dress and go straight out of the door! When You meet Jatila You just tell her: "Thank you for letting Me search for My calve! I'm carrying it along under My scarf!" In this way You can explain the big volume of Your breasts under Your cowherdboy-scarf!"
Sri Radhika and Subala then exchange clothes and Radhika thus manages to escape from Jatila's vigilance, strictly following Subala's instructions. Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami says: subala nyasta sarupya: "Sri Radhika has invested Her own form in Subala". From this story we can understand for which purpose She has done this.

When Radhika, dressed as Subala, comes to Krishna, She decides to play a trick on Him. She pretends to be Subala and tells Krishna: "Sorry, Kanai! I didn't manage to bring Sri Radhika to You! But don't worry anyway! I met Candravali on the way and she says that she's all ready for You, so if you want You can go to her!" Krishna passes the test, though, and wails: "Radhe! I only want You! How can I meet You somehow?" Seeing how faithful Krishna is to Her, Sri Radhika becomes very pleased. She reveals Her real identity to Krishna and gives Him a warm embrace.

Today is the only other day during the year when we get to have darshan of Srimati Radharani's Lotus Feet. Vraja Kishori pr. did a magnificent job dressing The Deities this morning. Please take shelter of this magnificent day!

Your servant,
Bhaktavatsala das

Govardhana Hill

My beloved disciple Rasika-sekhara Prabhu,

Bhadram te. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

I went on parikrama around Govardhana Hill this morning and when I came back to the ashrama, I was brimming with happiness and singing out loud.

As soon as I arrived at my room, however, my dear godbrother Kesava Bharati Dasa Goswami hurried in to see me. Just by seeing his face I knew that something was terribly wrong.

He told me to sit down because he had some very heavy news.

When he told me that you had left your body, I sat for a long while with my eyes closed, chanting under my breath, remembering you, praying to Krsna that you attain the highest goal for your selfless service to Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement at ISV.

I first became aware of your deep devotion to the Lord many years ago when I got the news that you had insisted on keeping Srila Prabhupada's books in your garage rather sending them to a storage locker. You and Sonal were determined to supply the sankirtana devotees with books from your home. The moment I heard this, I knew that I liked you.

Soon your home became known as Sankirtana Central, and devotees delighted in going there on weekends to pick up transcendental books. Your house had taken on a festive atmosphere.

From then on your service repertoire grew and grew as you eagerly accepted various duties in preaching and management. Whatever you did - preparing the offerings after the MSF (which you developed into an art), making announcements at the temple, or keeping super tidy accounts of ISV's laxmi - you did in your own one-hundred-percent-dependable style.

Year after year I watched you intently listen to Krsna katha and study Srila Prabhupada's books, steadily increasing your determination to surrender to Krsna.

And finally you did just that! Just a few months before your leaving this world, to the great delight of everyone, you accepted initiation vows and a spiritual name.

Rasika-sekhara, I am feeling your separation very intensely, and I always will.

My only solace on this saddest of days is that when you passed from this world you were up to your neck in service to Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan. You were fixed in devotion.

In the Gita, Krsna asks Arjuna to declare boldly to the world that He will always protect His devotee. And He also says that even a tiny drop of service never goes in vain.

Because of your faith in and surrender to Krsna, I have full confidence that He has made a very special arrangement for your service to continue.

You were a loving son, father, and husband, you had a successful career, and you had an abundance of friends who treasured you. But most important, you surrendered your soul to Krsna and did unforgettable service to Lord Caitanya's sankirtana movement.

With eternal gratitude and affection,

Vaisesika Dasa

Be More Happy and Thankful to Krishna by donating a Tile in "Million Dollar Wall"

Dear ISV Devotees

Please accept my respectful obesisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Hope you are having a wonderful karthik month and offering ghee lamp/wick to the Lordships everyday. You can come to ISV every evening during Karthik and offer ghee wick to the lord

Quick Update from ISV new Temple:

- ISV performed Ground Breaking ceremony performed for new Temple on 1 Nov, please check updates from Her Grace Jagarani Mataji
- ISV chose  Balaji as contractor for remodeling and signed the contract with his company.

Now we need to have sufficient  funds with us in our bank accounts to make payments and to ensure smooth move to new Temple. We would like to thank all our donors without whom support we would not have reached these milestones.

We also request devotees who have yet not paid for their committed tiles to fulfill their payments quickly now.

You have given enough donations to the Lordships this year and ISV Fund Raising department will  request you to take flyers and receipts and discuss with your friends and relatives and get more funds for new Temple.

e.g. Dilip Bhai have talked with his friends and we have received 1 Tile and 6-8 checks with each having amount ranging from 500 to 2000. Similarly His Grace Vrajendra Kumar prabhu got donations from his friends at office.

If you have more ideas please contact me or Jagarini Mataji.
