THURSDAY, MARCH 1 -  GAURA PURNIMA FESTIVAL

The Supreme Lord Sri Krishna appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to establish Sankirtana (chanting of the Holy Names) – the Yuga Dharma for this age of Kali. He appeared on Phalguni Purnima, the full moon day in the month of Phalguna, (Feb-March) in the year 1486 AD (1407 Shakabda) at Sridham Mayapura as the son of Sri Jagannath Mishra and Srimati Sachidevi. His parents named him Nimai since he was born under a nimba (neem) tree in the courtyard of His paternal house. His appearance day is celebrated as GauraPurnima.

The celebrations begins in the morning with Mangala arati and spans the whole day filled with kirtans, spiritual discourses and prasadam. 

On this day, devotees fast till moonrise and break their fast by taking anukalpa feast (made from non-grains). On the following day, they offer a special feast to the Lord which is called Jagannath Mishra Feast, named after Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's father, who arranged a grand feast to celebrate the birth of his son.

Srimad Bhagavatam is the galitam phalam, or ripened fruit, of all Vedic knowledge. It is exactly like amrita, for by hearing its recitation we can cross beyond birth and death. There are ten subject matters and when studied together, these ten subject matters fully establish the Supreme personality of Godhead, Bhagavan Sri Krishna, as the transcendental Absolute Truth.

Join us to deep dive and experience transcendental wisdom as explained in the great classic text, Srimad Bhagavatam. We are pleased to invite you for this week's Srimad Bhagavatam discourse.

ISV's (New) NAVADWIP PRESCHOOL


Navadwip Preschool is a new education initiative of ISV that is meant for kids of age 3 to 5 year old.
It is  open full day and is located in Sunnyvale.

The curriculum is based on California (CA) state standards educational structure as well as Vedic Culture. A foreign language Sanskrit with structured instructions will also be a part of the curriculum. Maximum of 15 children can be enrolled in this session.

Gaura Purnima Festival Celebrations on March 1 - Welcome to ISV!

Hope this meets you all well. 

Gaura Purnima, one of the most holiest of festivals is just around the corner and with great happiness in our hearts, we welcome you all to the festival celebrations this Thursday at ISV. Gaura Purnima is the auspicious appearance day of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (who is also known as Gauranga due to His golden complexion), and this year we are celebrating the 532nd anniversary of His appearance on March 1, 2018. This festival also marks the beginning of the New Year for Gaudiya Vaishnavas.

THURSDAY, MARCH 1 - GAURA PURNIMA FESTIVAL CELENBRATIONS

Valmiki Rsi, formally a hunter, became a perfectly pure devotee, saw the pastimes of Lord Rama in his heart, and compiled the Ramayana. All this he achieved by the mercy of his spiritual master, Narada Muni and the holy names. From any position, even a lowly one, anyone can become a perfectly pure devotee by taking shelter of a Vaisnava and the holy names. Have a wonderful week!

As we are gearing up celebrating Sri Gaura Purnima, the auspicious appearance day of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and part of our Sankirtan MSF goal, we have begin reading Sri Caitanya Caritamrita from January 22 through March 1 via conference call. Please join us this Wednesday night as we continue hearing from Sri Caitanya Caritamrita.
