May Govardhana Hill, which by Krishna's mercy became the king of all mountains and received the respectful tribute of its arch- enemy Indra, fulfill my desire.

Text 2

sva-preshtha-hastambuja-saukumarya- sukhanubhuter ati-bhumi-vritteh

As it was held above the earth it became so filled with happines by experiencing the softness of its beloved Krishna's lotus hand it did not even know it was being struck by Indra's thunderbolt. May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Text 3

sruteh spriha yatra mahaty atah sri- govardhano me disatam abhishtam

Trying to collect a toll, Krishna quarrelled there with King Vrishabhanu's daughter. The personified Vedas yearn to listen to that quarrel. May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Text 4

Bathing in a nearby lake, the elephant of a pleasant breeze, covered with pollen of kadamba and other flowers, gracefully plays there. May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Searching there for Lord Hari on the path of His flute music, the astonished deer do not find Him. May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Text 7

yatraiva gangam anu navi radham arohya madhye tu nimagna-naukah
krishno hi radhanugalo babhau sa govardhano me disatam abhishtam

As the divine couple traveled on the Ganges there the boat began to sink in the middle. Krishna was splendidly handsome as Radha clung to his neck. May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Text 8

vina bhavet kim hari-dasa-varya- padasrayam bhaktir atah srayami
yam eva saprema nijesayoh sri- govardhano me disatam abhishtam

Without taking shelter of the feet of the hill that is the best of Lord Hari's servants and full of love for the divine king and queen, how is it possible to attain pure devotional service? May Govardhana Hill fulfill my desire.

Text 9

Let us recite with Enthusiasm!!

Dear Devotees,

Hare Krishna Dear Esteemed Devotees,

Please accept our most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupad!

We wish you a very Happy Diwali!! Just 15 days ago, all of us enthusistically started Kartik month with a vow to chant the 8th chapter of Bhagavad-Gita every day. This indeed is a glorious start. Generally, we are attracted to anything new. For example, new cars and homes look so elegant. It is so wonderful to travel to new places, learn new things, and get new friends.

But the same favorite activity - be it intellectual, physical, mental, or spiritual - if we try to do it continuously, day after day, sooner or later the taste becomes stale, and the mind will start looking for an alternative or it will start doing the activity simply ritualistically. It is very important for us to recognize this tendency and trade in this sense of boredom for feelings of enthusiasm. There is no substitute for enthusiasm. Even in the material plane, this enthusiam can turn an ordinary work into extraordinary accomplishment, it can turn an average piece of art into a visual masterpiece. If we simply employ this enthusiasm in spiritual activities then we get the ultimate benefit.

Srila Prabhupad says, "You must voluntarily agree, not hackneyed, mechanical. 'Spiritual master says like this right. All right let me do it.' No. You have to understand very nicely...with love. When you work, when you work for Krishna with love and enthusiasm, that is your Krishna conscious life. If you think that "It is hackneyed, it is troublesome, but what can I do? These people ask me to do it. I have to do it," that is not Krishna consciousness. You have to do it voluntarily and with great pleasure... Always you should be enthusiastic,.., with patience..with confidence. "When I am engaged in Krishna's business, Krishna's activities, Krishna will surely take me back to home, back to..." confidence. And Krishna says, man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru [Bg. 18.65]. "I will take you back." It is stated. Krishna is not a liar so we have to work with enthusiasm." (Bhagavad-gita 1.30, London, July 23, 1973)

Let us enthusiastically recite the chapter every day and attract the Supreme Lord into our hearts. Even if we have missed a few days, we shoud not be disheartned but should enthusiatically continue to recite the chapter every day.

As our CHAD founder, HG Vaisesika Prabhu always suggests, "today, and everyday, may we recite the divine slokas in Bhagavad-gita not by rote. Rather, with the urgency of a man or woman trapped in a burning house, let us sing them aloud, calling for Krsna’s protection."

Wishing you a Happy CHAD!!

Message from ISV Council headed by His Grace Vaisesika Prabhu

Response to Inquiries Regarding India Heritage Foundation

We have received some inquiries about an India Heritage Foundation which has opened a Krishna-Balarama temple in Sunnyvale. The Foundation states on its website that it is dedicated to serving the mission of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, so people have naturally asked whether it is affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

The answer is no.  India Heritage Foundation is a completely separate group. It is not a branch of ISKCON and is not connected with ISKCON in any way.  The group  does not recognize the authority of ISKCON's Governing Body Commission (GBC), which Srila Prabhupada established as the ultimate managing authority for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.   Rather, India Heritage Foundation appears to be affiliated with a group of junior people who have splintered off from ISKCON and gone their own way.

ISKCON considers this group particularly strange because the group rejects the standard tradition of accepting guidance from a living guru and advocates the notion that by a sort of imaginary process one can be "initiated" by a spiritual master already departed from this world. This notion is foreign to every Hindu tradition we know of, and the GBC has condemned it as a deviation from the authentic path of Krishna consciousness  as revealed through guru, sadhu and sastra.

The local ISKCON branch for Silicon Valley is ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV), currently located at 951 S. Bascom Avenue, San Jose (www.virtualtemple.org).  ISV is currently working to expand its activities and specifically to raise $2.5 million to purchase a nice temple for Sri Sri Radha-Madanamohana in Santa Clara County.  The directors of ISV and the leadership of ISKCON in North America request that to support Krishna consciousness in Silicon Valley you please give your exclusive support to ISV and its fund-raising efforts.

Thank you.

Dear ISV Devotees

Please accept my respectful obesisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The congregation from ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) at San Jose meets

Yes, We are meeting Today for Special Harinama Performance at Palo Alto which happens to be also an auspicious Day of Ekadasi.

When : 6:59 pm at Intersection of University and Emerson St

The weather is going to be great so drop all Jobs, invite others, wear good clean spiritual clothes and fill your cars, minivans with people who are willing to get Mercy from Lotus Feet of Hari nama

The below text from Sri Namastaka impressed me last week and wanted to share with you all ( specially in bold) :

süditäsrita-janärti-räsaye ramya-cid-ghana-sukha-svarüpine
näma gokula-mohotsaväya te krsna pürna-vapuse namo namaù

"O Holy Name! You destroy the many sufferings of those who take shelter of You.

You are the very form of concentrated spiritual bliss, a festival of happiness for Gokula, and the perfect and complete form of Lord Krishna.
Again and again I bow to You. "
Text 7 from Çré Nämäñöaka "Eight Prayers Glorifying the Holy Name" by Srila Rupa Goswami

Also, from one of mails from Vaisesika Prabhu for all of you :

"
Now all over the world, people feel discontent and are gathering together to protest their uncomfortable, frustrating lives. But what will they ultimately get even if their misguided demands are fulfilled? More of the same. Alas! What a waste of energy.

On the other hand, harinama is from the spiritual world. It really does give a way for people, no matter what station in life, to not only feel happiness and satisfaction, but to rise to higher transcendental knowledge. And those who know the Bhagavad-gita also know that along with yajna comes good fortune for all. Now here's a cause that people can gather for and actually get what they are looking for!

All glories to all the ISV devotees who are coming out in force for the harinams and who chant from their hearts out of love for the holy name. My obeisances to all of you.

Public harinama must be promoted far and wide. This is kali-yuga, after all! There's no other way, no other way, no other way!

Let's use all our imagination, resources and creative powers to expand the chanting of the holy names. Now is the time to make our move.

"All glories, all glories to Lord Murari in the form of His all-ecstatic name! If any living being puts aside such tasks as meditation, ritual worship, and social duties and even once takes the Lord's holy name, the name will grant him liberation. That holy name is the greatest source of eternal pleasure and is my very life and soul." (Sanatana Goswami. Brhat Bhagavatamrita)

... there's a harinama performance this Friday night! Invite everyone in your neighborhood and bring 'em down for the yajna! Gaura Prema anande, hari bol!
"

So Please come in large numbers in time to celebrate Ekadasi in special way

Your humble servant

When the circus comes to town, people come from miles around to see it. Similarly, ISV harinama will become an irresistible phenomenon and a standard for hari nama performances all over the world.

Let's work together to realize this dream and to glorify Lord Caitanya in a very special way. "

Please come in large numbers to dance, chant and distribute Srila Prabhupada books profusely on Streets of Palo Alto

IMPORTANT PARKING INSTRUCTIONS: We will NOT be able to park in any of the
spaces in front of the shops next to the temple. (Including the Check Cashing
store,  the barber shop, etc.) We will also not be able to park along the wall
adjacent  to the temple. The landlord of these shops has a new parking policy
and will tow  any cars parked there that are not patrons of their shops.

Street side parking is available on streets near the intersection of Del
Mar  Ave and Lynnhaven Dr (for example on Lynnhaven Dr, on Roenoke Way, on Del
Mar  Ave, etc.). If you park your car in front of a home, please do not block
their  driveway. Del Mar Ave runs parallel to Bascom ave. There is a small
drive  way  (belongs to Streetlight Records; you can see this on Google maps
satellite  view)  that joins Bascom and Del Mar Ave located in between Lynnhaven
Dr and Roenoke Way. This is a short cut way to walk to the temple after parking
your  car.
