Let us recite with Enthusiasm!!

Dear Devotees,

Hare Krishna Dear Esteemed Devotees,

Please accept our most humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupad!

We wish you a very Happy Diwali!! Just 15 days ago, all of us enthusistically started Kartik month with a vow to chant the 8th chapter of Bhagavad-Gita every day. This indeed is a glorious start. Generally, we are attracted to anything new. For example, new cars and homes look so elegant. It is so wonderful to travel to new places, learn new things, and get new friends.

But the same favorite activity - be it intellectual, physical, mental, or spiritual - if we try to do it continuously, day after day, sooner or later the taste becomes stale, and the mind will start looking for an alternative or it will start doing the activity simply ritualistically. It is very important for us to recognize this tendency and trade in this sense of boredom for feelings of enthusiasm. There is no substitute for enthusiasm. Even in the material plane, this enthusiam can turn an ordinary work into extraordinary accomplishment, it can turn an average piece of art into a visual masterpiece. If we simply employ this enthusiasm in spiritual activities then we get the ultimate benefit.

Srila Prabhupad says, "You must voluntarily agree, not hackneyed, mechanical. 'Spiritual master says like this right. All right let me do it.' No. You have to understand very nicely...with love. When you work, when you work for Krishna with love and enthusiasm, that is your Krishna conscious life. If you think that "It is hackneyed, it is troublesome, but what can I do? These people ask me to do it. I have to do it," that is not Krishna consciousness. You have to do it voluntarily and with great pleasure... Always you should be enthusiastic,.., with patience..with confidence. "When I am engaged in Krishna's business, Krishna's activities, Krishna will surely take me back to home, back to..." confidence. And Krishna says, man-mana bhava mad-bhakto mad-yaji mam namaskuru [Bg. 18.65]. "I will take you back." It is stated. Krishna is not a liar so we have to work with enthusiasm." (Bhagavad-gita 1.30, London, July 23, 1973)

Let us enthusiastically recite the chapter every day and attract the Supreme Lord into our hearts. Even if we have missed a few days, we shoud not be disheartned but should enthusiatically continue to recite the chapter every day.

As our CHAD founder, HG Vaisesika Prabhu always suggests, "today, and everyday, may we recite the divine slokas in Bhagavad-gita not by rote. Rather, with the urgency of a man or woman trapped in a burning house, let us sing them aloud, calling for Krsna’s protection."

Wishing you a Happy CHAD!!
