Maha cleaning coming up - By His Grace Ramanand Sakha Prabhu

Hare Krishna
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Maha cleaning event of the ISKCON Silicon Valley temple is coming up soon:

When? June 30th and July 1st

What is this?
We'll clean the whole temple including walls, windows, appliances, furniture, all things and everything inside and outside.

We do this once a year. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu Himself personally organized, washed and cleansed the Gundica temple with His devotees and associates. In this way He made the temple as cool and bright as His own heart, and thus He made the place befitting for Lord Sri Krishna to sit. We'll do the same and make our temple a befitting place for Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan to sit.

We request devotees to volunteer for this event in large numbers. We guarantee that your heart too will be cleansed and will go home with a happy face. If you want to volunteer please contact hariharan_r_iyer@yahoo.com or ramananda.sakha@gmail.com. Prasadam will be served though out the day during the event.

Thank you.

Your servant,
Ramananda-sakha Dasa.

Upcoming maha cleaning 30th June

Hare Krishna,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
This is reminder for the upcoming maha cleaning event on

The weekends of 6/30, 7/1 and 7/7, 7/8
Timings: 12 pm to 7 pm on Saturdays; 10 am to 3:30 pm on Sundays.

We'll need around 40 volunteers to make it a successful event. Please consider volunteering your time. For example if you have one hour to spare please consider coming to the temple for helping.

Srila Prabhupada states,

"I am very pleased, therefore, when my disciples nicely dress the Deity, offer the Deity nice foodstuffs, and keep the temple very clean. Sri-mandira-marjanadau. Marjana means "cleansing." Whether one dresses Krsna or cleanses the temple, the spiritual benefit one receives is the same. Don't think, "I am only a cleanser, and he is a dresser." No, the person who is dressing the Deity and the person who is cleansing the temple are the same because Krsna is absolute. Therefore, one should engage in Krsna's service in any way, and one's life will be successful. This is the Krsna consciousness movement."

"Don't think that only Krsna is here in the temple room. No. Krsna is everywhere. Especially this temple where Krsna live. Every part of this temple, every part of is Krsna. Otherwise why it is recommended tan-mandira marjanadisu? This is tapasya. You should always remain engaged doing something for Krsna. Don't think this is very first-class, this is last- class. No. Advaya-jnana. Krsna and Krsna's temple the same thing. Don't think that "Oh, I am given this work to cleanse the temple and that man is given this work to worship the Deity." There is no difference. Aradhya bhagavan vraj tad dhama vrndavanam. As Krsna is aradhya, worshipable, similarly His dhama, His place, this Vrndavana, is also worshipable, As good as Krsna. What to speak of temple. Whole Vrndavana."

Thank you.

Your servant,
Ramananda-sakha Dasa.

The Fortunate Association of Vaisesika Prabhu this Wednesday

Hare Krishna Dear Esteemed Devotees,

We are all very fortunate this week to have the great association of His Grace Vaisesika Prabhu this week!!

This is what one of the verses in Srimad Bhagavatam says about association:

One should learn how to associate with the devotees of the Lord by gathering with them to chant the glories of the Lord.  This process is most purifying.  As devotees thus develop their loving friendship, they feel mutual happiness and satisfaction. And by thus encouraging one another they are able to give up material sense gratification, which is the cause of all suffering.

-Srimad Bhagavatam 11.3.30

The Schedule for this week is as follows:

Wednesday June 26, 6:00pm-8:30pm:

There will be a class given by His Grace Vaisesika Prabhu on Sri Isopanisad and Bhagavad Gita. We will
also be having a small seminar on "Save the Yamuna Campaign" which is going to be given by Brajaraj Prabhu.
Following this will be kirtan followed by exotic feast of sumptuous prasadam.

Saturday June 30, 7:00am-10:30am:

We will have a recitation of the Brahma Samhita followed by a class on the Srimad Bhagavatam.
This will be followed by the Guru Puja and Prasadam.

Sunday July 1, 4:00pm-6:00pm:

There will be a lecture, followed by an ecstatic kirtan, followed by the Sunday Feast.

We all look forward to your association!

"Save Yamuna" Petition: Special Seminar on Wed at ISV at 7 30 pm by Brajraj Prabhu

Dear ISV Devotees

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Do you know that there is No Yamuna river in Braj, Vrindavan, Mathura, Gokul, Agra and Prayag now? Your 30 second attention can make a difference.

Quick Facts and Stats:

There is not one drop of Natural Fresh River Water in River Yamuna in Delhi & Beyond.
Almost 97% of Original River Waters are taken away from River Yamuna, only a few kilometers from its birthplace - Yamnotri.
What flows in Mathura – Vrindavan is simply filthy and heavily polluted sewage from Shahdra Drain of Delhi, polluted Hindon and other smaller wastewater drains.
No amount of treatment can bring the qualities of Fresh natural water in a river. The river needs dilution capacity – minimum ecological flow at all costs. Any river does.
Despite of Supreme Courts approved High Powered Committee's directives, the minimum adequate flow of Natural Fresh Waters is not being allowed to flow in River Yamuna.
Millions of religious/spiritual tourist visits the temple towns on River Yamuna every year. It is a shame that they are duped into bathing and drinking the filthiest of waters as none of them realize that it is only poisonous sewage. Their spiritual emotions and faith are being hoodwinked.

A devotee named Brajraj Sharan, who is a Brijabasi from Barsana is in the US promoting the Save Yamuna effort. He is a gentle and dedicated Vaishnava, and very friendly and supportive of ISKCON.

We are fortunate that he has agreed to come to ISV on Wed for a short seminar for 30 min stating from 7:30 pm till 8 pm. Kindly come and also invite others who can help this campiagn in signing the petition.

You can contribute on this campaign by

b) Spread the word to your friends, facebook , devotees, environmentalists groups and friends.

Get more details on below website and contribute to the cause:
Brief Background/ Update on the Campaign

Brajraj Prabhu has made presentations to the GBC in Mayapura this year about the horrible mistreatment of the Yamuna.

To date Brajraja's group have marched with thousands of protesters, met with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, the Environmental Ministers of India and several states, and many other influential people. All have said something should be done.

But, only short term adjustments are made (like letting a small percentage of the re-directed water flow naturally for a few weeks until public attention dies down). No long term solutions have been undertaken. Even the Supreme Court of India ruled the river must be let to flow freely---but they have no power to make it happen.  (For more information you can go to SavetheYamuna.org)

Just 3 weeks ago, a family bathed in the Yamuna in Vrindavana (and drank some water) and began to spit up blood. They were rushed to the hospital but two of them died within hours!

ISKCON is one of many organizations that is behind his effort to get the Indian govt to clean up the river. It could be done rather easily, but there are money, power, and corruption issues involved.

Lets do our part in this Save Yamuna Campaign
Thanks for your time.

Your humble servant
Damodara Vamsidhari Das (Deepak Chandani)

hari nama tonight + last weekend to serve Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura - HG Vaisesika Prabhu

Dear highly-esteemed Team ISV devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances and best wishes. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The work of going door-to-door, town-to-town to distribute Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta, and so on, is the highest welfare work.

Not only that, it is the yuga-dharma, the specific sacrifice prescribed for Kali-yuga in the Vedas and confirmed by the great Acaryas.

Karabhajana Muni says:

"Those who are actually advanced in knowledge are able to appreciate the essential value of this age of Kali. Such enlightened persons worship Kali-yuga because in this fallen age all perfection of life can easily be achieved by the performance of sankirtana." (SB 11.5.36)

According to our Acaryas, Sankirtana includes not only the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord; it also includes the distribution of transcendental books, or written kirtana. In 1974, Srila Prabhupada wrote:

"So I am always emphasizing book distribution. It is the better kirtana. It is better than chanting. Of course chanting should not stop, but book distribution is the best kirtana." (SPL to Srutadeva dasa, 24th October, 1974)

And in his purport to Srimad-bhagavatam 3.25.21, Srila Prabhupada describes the mood of the devotees who go out to distribute transcendental knowledge to the public:

"A sadhu, as described above, is a devotee of the Lord. His concern, therefore, is to enlighten people in devotional service to the Lord. That is his mercy. He knows that without devotional service to the Lord, human life is spoiled. A devotee travels all over the country, from door to door, preaching, `Be Krsna conscious. Be a devotee of Lord Krishna. Don't spoil your life in simply fulfilling your animal propensities. Human life is meant for self-realization, or Krishna consciousness.' These are the preachings of a sadhu. He is not satisfied with his own liberation. He always thinks about others. He is the most compassionate personality towards all the fallen souls."

This weekend is our final opportunity to perform sankirtana together all around the Bay Area, before the divine disappearance day of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura this coming Tuesday.

We are still working on achieving our goal of distributing at least 8,008 books and collecting at least $9,000.

Please join us!

Tonight, Friday, June 15th, starting at 6:59pm we will meet in Palo Alto, (University and Emerson) to congregationally chant the holy names.

On Saturday and Sunday, we will all be going out to distribute books around the Bay Area in a variety of spots.

There are at least four ways that you can participate:

1. Join the book distribution team.
2. Come out for Harinama Sankirtana.
3. Donate money to support the book distribution.
4. Volunteer for backup services.

The human form is especially given to us for performing yajna, sacrifice. By doing the proper sacrifice, we can attain the highest goal of life.

Take advantage this weekend and be counted by joining this historic event celebrating the life of one of our greatest Acaryas, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura.

Param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam!

With gratitude and affection,

Your servant,

Vaisesika Dasa
