Dear Friends,

Pray this meets you all well. We had an inspiring week at the ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) with an amazing seminar on the power of prayer by H.G.Vaisesika Dasa. Prayer is an universal activity and is common to every spiritual path and religion. We learnt  how prayer is a very important part of our life and the deepest way of expressing our sincerity and gratitude to the Lord of our hearts. This week we have a special guest at ISV who is coming all the way from Govardhana in Vrindavan dham to give us his valuable association and share his wisdom. He is an amazing singer, a scholar and has been a source of inspiration for many. Please do not miss this rare opportunity to hear from him!

We extend a warm welcome to you and your family to join us for the upcoming events at ISV this week.

THE GLORIES OF MOTHER GANGA

Join us to hear the glories of one of the holiest rivers of India, Mother Ganga. Srimad Bhagavatam depicts accurately the birth of river Ganges who entered this universe when Lord Vamandeva extended his left foot to the end of universe and pierced a hole in its covering with the nail of his big toe. Through the hole, the pure water of the Causal ocean entered this universe as the Ganges River. "Jahnu Saptami" will be celebrated on Friday, May 17 and on this day, the Ganga is worshipped and many people make offerings to the forefathers, and bathe in the Ganga. On this day, if possible, one should worship the Ganges and bathe in her waters.

Speaker: HG Mukunda Datta Dasa

4.00 – 5.45pm: The Glories of Mother Ganga

6.00pm: Arotik followed by Prasadam

His Grace Mukunda Datta Das is a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. He joined ISKCON when he was just 15 years old and has been serving in various capacities ever since. Currently he's a member of the Sastric Advisory Council for ISKCON GBC and is translating books from Sanskrit to English for the BBT. He is currently living in Vrindavan with his wife. Mukunda Prabhu is an amazing personality with a rare combination of being a very pious and gentle brahmana, an excellent singer and musician, a learned scholar in scriptures and Sanskrit, a wonderful pujari expert in Deity worship, a compassionate preacher, a loyal disciple of Srila Prabhupada who is very faithful to our guru-parampara tradition - and yet, with all these virtues -  so genuinely humble! And above all, he is also a very good friend of HG Vaisesika Prabhu!

P.S:  On the auspicious day of "Jahnu Saptami" (Friday, May 17), ISKCON of Silicon Valley is organizing a Maha Harinam Sankirtan in the busiest streets of Palo Alto distributing the holy names to everyone as desired by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. We will also be distributing the sacred Ganges water to everyone. Stay tuned for more updates and be prepared to join us for this most exciting and all-blissful activity of publicly chanting the holy names for the benefit of all the living entities!

In case you are unable to make it, you can also join us through audio conference or watch live broadcast. The details are available at www.IskconSiliconValley.com
