The most awaited moment of the year is around the corner. Every year at ISV, Sri Krsna Janmashtami is celebrated with great pomp and festivities. This year is more special because this is the FIRST JANMASHTAMI at our new temple in Mountain View. The festival begins at 4.30 am with Mangala Arati and Darshan is open from 7.30 am until midnight. There are programs throughout the day with special events in the evening that includes Kirtans, Sri Krsna Abhishek, Discourses, Jhulan seva, Arati and much more.
ISKCON of Silicon Valley (ISV) extends a warm welcome to you, your family and friends on the auspicious occasion of Sri Krsna Janmashtami on Wednesday, August 28th 2013. The auspicious day of the appearance of Lord Krishna is celebrated all over the world as Sri Krishna Janmashtami. It is celebrated on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Shraavan. Krishna, who is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appeared in Mathura as son of Vasudeva and Devaki.
"As stated in the Bhagavad-gita, the Lord says that His appearance, birth, and activities, are all transcendental, and one who understands them factually becomes immediately eligible to be transferred to the spiritual world. " Lord Krishna Himself in Bhagavad gita, Chapter 4 text 8 describes the reason of His appearance as follows:
paritranaya sadhunam
vinasaya ca duskrtam
dharma-samsthapanarthaya
sambhavami yuge yuge
