Balabhadra Prabhu was the first devotee to get initiated by Srila Prabhupada in Hawaii in 1969. He moved to Gita Nagari farm in 1980 with his family where he learned about cow protection, agriculture and ox training. Ten years later Balabadra and family incorporated ISCOWP, left Gita Nagari and moved to a North Carolina  devotee community in Hillsborough, North Carolina. There they established a small farm and acquired their first team of oxen, Vraja and Gita. In 1999, Bir Krishna Goswami recommended Balabhadra as ISKCON Global Minister for Cow Protection and Agriculture. Until 2012, Balabhadra traveled to many countries as ISKCON's Global Minister and also established the 165 acre  ISCOWP center in West Virginia.
