Beginning of Auspicious Month of Kartik - Welcome to ISV!

Hope this meets you all well. The auspicious month of Kartika is just around the corner. This year this auspicious month spans from Oct 15 - Nov 14. Kartika is the best, the purest of purifiers, and most glorious of all month and is particularly dear to Lord Krsna. Sri Sri Damodarastakam is sung during Kartika, also known as month of Damodara. As quoted in the Sri Hari Bhakti Vilasa," In the month of Kartika one should wprship Lord Damodara and daily recite the prayer known as Damodarastaka, which has been spoken by Sage Satyavratra and which attracts Lord Damodara. (Sri Hari Bhakti Vilasa 2.16.198)"

OCT 15, SATURDAY: SRIMAD-BHAGAVATAM DISCOURSE

Skanda Purana describes the month of Kartika as the topmost of all other months. It is the most meritorious and purified of all other pure months. There is no other month equal to Kartika and there is no other yuga equal to Krtayuga. There is no other scripture equal to Vedas. There is no other place of pilgrimage equal to Ganges, therefore, the month of Kartika is very dear to the Vaisnavas. If one offers a lamp during the month of Kartika, his sins of many thousands and millions of births perish in half an eye blink.

Sri Sri Damodarastakam is sung during Kartika, also known as month of Damodara. As quoted in the Sri Hari Bhakti Vilasa,"In the month of Kartika one should wprship Lord Damodara and daily recite the prayer known as Damodarastaka, which has been spoken by Sage Satyavratra and which attracts Lord Damodara. (Sri Hari Bhakti Vilasa 2.16.198)" 

Since Oct 15 marks the beginning of this glorious month, let us come together and reflect on the beautiful prayers of Sri Damodarastakam.

Vedic Academy offers Sunday School for kids from age group 3 - 15 yrs every Sunday from 4 - 6pm where kids learn about Vedic Culture, Slokas, Stories & Lessons from Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam etc., Bhajans and participate in Arts & Crafts, Dramas and much more.
