A Weekend to remember - Festivities at ISV this Long Weekend!

Hope this meets you all well. We extend a warm welcome to you and your family to join us for the classes and events this week at ISV! Summer has finally set in and ISV is bustling with activities. We are getting ready for the major festivals of the year starting this weekend. We wouldn't be able run these festivals without your support. So we cordially invite you all to come and take part in these festivities.

JUNE 29, WEDNESDAY : AN EVENING OF KRSNA KATHA

But that is not the hearing that will help us to become self-realized.You should devote your time to hearing and chanting about Vishnu, Krishna. JULY 2, SATURDAY: SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM DISCOURSE

Srila Prabhupada states,"Srimad Bhagavatam carries with it all transcendental blessings of Lord Sri Krsna that we can expect from his personal contact". This week, our speaker, H.G Vaisesika Das, will talk about the art of learning from devotees. Join us for this enlivening discussion this Saturday morning!

JULY 2, SATURDAY: KRSNA KATHA

Please join us for a an evening of Hari-Katha and Kirtan with H.H. GopalKrishna Goswami Maharaj.  We invite you, your family and friends to take the opportunity to engage in the auspicious hearing of Krishna Katha, ecstatic Bhajans and Kirtans, partake in Krishna Prasadam

H.H Gopala Krishna Goswami Maharaj. Maharaj is a very senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada. He graduated from the University of Delhi, studied Business Management at the Sorbonne University of Paris on a scholarship from the French Government and later, obtained a Master Degree in Business Administration from McGill University at Montreal. At present, H.H Gopala Krishna GoswamiMaharaja is the G.B.C for Mumbai and various other ISKCON centers in Norther India. He is also the Chairman and Trustee of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, the world's largest publisher and distributor of Vedic Literatures. Maharaj is well known for his deep commitment and surrender to Srila Prabhupada, his untiring, dedicated efforts to spread the mission of Lord Caitanya globally and his self compassionate nature.

JULY 4, MONDAY - SRILA BHAKTIVINODA THAKURA DISAPPEARANCE DAY FESTIVAL

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura is a prominent preceptor Acharya in our succession of spiritual masters and disciples coming from Lord Krishna. He was a pioneering spiritual leader, a householder, a magistrate working in colonial India under the British rule, a prolific preacher, writer, and poet. He wrote volumes of books reintroducing the pure teachings of Lord Chaitanya at a time when those teachings had practically become lost. He composed hundreds of devotional songs glorifying Krishna to uplift the consciousness of the suffering people of this world. Along with his devoted wife, Bhagavati Devi, he raised ten children, including the illustrious Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura, who would become a great spiritual leader in his own time and the spiritual master of ISKCON's founder-acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Above all, Bhaktivinoda Thakura taught devotion to Krishna by his personal example. His life story, excerpted below, demonstrates a tremendous amount of courage, character, and perseverance in the face of many difficulties and gives hope to those of us who may be wondering just how to find the time to serve Lord Sri Krishna, His holy names, and His devotees in our ever so busy lives.

In many ways, aspiring devotees of Krishna today owe a significant debt to Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura for charting the course and laying the foundation for the modern-day Krishna consciousness movement.

VEDIC EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN

Vedic Academy offers Sunday School for kids from age group 3 - 15 yrs every Sunday from 4 - 6pm where kids learn about Vedic Culture, Slokas, Stories & Lessons from Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam etc., Bhajans and participate in Arts & Crafts, Dramas and much more.
