Devotional Service in the Modes of Nature VS Transcendental Devotional Service

Although bhakti is never contaminated by the modes of nature, a practitioner of bhakti may be affected by various modes and will therefore practice bhakti accordingly with varying results. In this class, we will look at the symptoms of bhakti performed in tamo guna (darkness), rajo guna (passion) and sattva guna (goodness) and the qualities of pure bhakti in complete transcendence. Learn to distinguish pure bhakti from bhakti practice in the modes of nature and by doing so, more speedily refine your own practice.

Born William Suczek , he spent his teens searching for God and for the meaning of life. His prayers and intense austerities, which included vows of poverty, fasting, silence – unusual for a teenager – resulted in him meeting his spiritual master, A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founder of the International Society for Krsna Consciousness through the inspiration derived from his books. In a short time, he received spiritual initiation from him and received the name, Vaisesika Dasa. For thirty six years, Vaisesika Dasa, has been traveling. lecturing, counseling and inspiring many spiritual aspirants all over the world. He currently lives in San Francisco, California and serves as the President of the Iskcon Silicon Valley Bhakti Yoga Center and has implemented several projects over there. His contributions are endlessly dynamic and he is loved and respected by all for his charisma and vast vedic knowledge.
